The generation and analysis of proteome data is becoming increasingly widespread, and the field is moving incrementally towards high throughput approaches. Techniques are also increasing in complexity as the relevant technologies evolve. A standard representation of the methods employed and data generated in proteomics experiments – analogous to the MIAME guidelines for transcriptomics, and the MAGE object model and XML implementation – has yet to emerge. This hinders the handling, exchange and dissemination of proteomics data.

These pages provide both the software, and data models (
UML, XML and SQL schemata), to support the capture, storage and dissemination of proteomics experimental data – necessary components for the implementation of a proteome repository.
